(Quepos Excursions Continued)
    11 Apr 2002

Our last weekend in Quepos we spent a day with our tico family and did their style of fishing. So spaning our trip in Quepos we saw extremes of fishing. This was the 'tranquilo' way of fishing. They provide the fish, you catch it, they clean it and cook it, and you eat it. All in about an hour.

The Fishing Spot

Here Scott is fishing with Genesis and Hugo. Everyone but the 2 kids caught something. And those poles they are holding are the fishing poles. It was only a pole with a string tied to the end and some gunk put on the hook on the end of the string. Simplest form of fishing I've ever seen.

And the final product. After you catch it they take it, clean it, and cook it for you. In the picture is Yesena, our tica mom, and Myriam aka Lucy, our swiss sister. She attended the same school as us and stayed in the same family with us. The reason she has two names is the family couldn't remember Myriam so she told them to call her by her middle name Lucy.

Saying goodbye to Quepos. Here I am at the bus stop waiting for the bus to Uvita :( And all that luggage you see is ours. Even though we lugged too much stuff through Europe we still haven't learned the art of packing light.

Why do I pack so much?

And I'm sure all of you are assuming most of that is mine, but nope its mostly Scott and mostly because he decided to bring this lovely laptop which I am typing the messages too you all on. The digital camera and laptop has been a lot of fun. We can see the pictures immediately. And don't have to waste so much film. For our last few weeks of travel a very nice new friend of ours, RJ in San Jose has agreed to store some of it so we don't have to carry the laptop when we become more transient.
